Pagan Coca Cola Award

Doris Doris Pagan Named a 2017 Phi Theta Kappa Coca Cola Silver Scholar

Posted 5-16-17

Doris Pagan, who will receive her Associate in Science Degree in Human Services on May 18 with the PCCC Class of 2017, has been named a Coca Cola Silver Scholar by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said the 41-year-old Clifton resident who, as an older student, did not think she would be selected. “I am very honored and grateful to PTK and to PCCC.”

Doris is one of 50 community college students from across the nation who received this year’s Silver Scholar designation, which comes with a $1,250 scholarship award. Recipients are chosen based on both academic achievement and service projects completed according to the principles of PTK.

Doris is also one of two PCCC students chosen for the 2017 NJ All-State Academic Team. She received both awards on May 4 at the annual PTK Day ceremony held in Trenton. (Read more)

Doris will transfer into a bachelor’s degree program at Seton Hall University this Fall. She plans to study social work with the goal of becoming a counselor.

Congratulations, Doris.
