PCCC's STEM Expands

PCCC's STEM Expands

Passaic County Community College's STEM Program well known for its highly important and
relevant seminars, the “Professional Lecture Series”, has again enhanced its services. The Program is
now providing professional advisement for students in the STEM field. According to Prof. Gonzalo Perez,
STEM’s Director, students in need of fine tuning their goals, those who are confused and seeking
to define a path to follow, or even those just making sure they are taking the right courses, can now sit
down with an advisor who can help them make sure they are in the right track. Prof. Perez has secured
this specialized expertise for PCCC’s students by enlisting Mr. Dennis Reer to the STEM family.

Mr. Reer has addressed the needs of the exceptional and the underserved student throughout
his teaching career. He served as the IT Director as well as a Math and Computer Applications Teacher
in an all-girls academy. Mr. Reer also served as an adjunct professor for Montclair State University’s
Computer Department.

Mr. Reer received his B.S.E.E. and M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
His career has taken him from a product developer for Panasonic where he was part
of launching the world’s first true handheld computer devices. He was also
the Marketing Director for Casio and the Business Planning Manager of Kodak
Health Imaging.

When asked about his new position with the STEM program, Mr. Reer stated:
“My goals at PCCC include using my enthusiasm for discovery to help promote
lifetime learning in, the areas of S.T.E.M. and to provide support to these student
as they navigate through their education from HS to PCCC and beyond.”

Mr. Reer portrays a very approachable demeanor accented by a comforting smile,
traits crucial when interacting with students. His passion for the field, wide
knowledge and experience offer PCCC students and high school students seeking to
develop in the STEM field, the guidance required to extract the most out of classes
and secure a satisfying career.

Mr. Dennis Reer and his wife Carolyn are the proud parents of two children who
are very successful in their respective fields of aviation mechanics and law.

Mr. Reer’s office is located in PCCC’s Academic Building, Room A314; he can be reached by phone 973-684-4739, by email dreer@pccc.edu, or you can stop by his office.
