FAQ

1. How can I find out who my Counselor is?

Each new student is assigned a Counselor in the Center for Student Success (A230) during his/her first two semesters at PCCC. After that period, students are assigned a Faculty Advisor who will work with them until they graduate. Students are informed of their counselor assignment during their College Experience class (COL 102), or are notified through the mail. Once you are assigned a Counselor, you can call 973-684-5224 for an appointment. You can talk to Counselors about anything that's confusing or upsetting you. Don't worry about asking strange questions. We're here to help. If we can't help, we'll send you to someone who can.

2. Does PCCC offer a new student orientation?

Every incoming freshman should attend the new student orientation program presented by the counseling staff. This important program provides students with the opportunity to meet other new students, learn about PCCC, and become familiar with the various resources on campus to assist them. If you're a brand new student, you'll be invited to the orientation soon after you take the placement test. Please contact the Center for Student for Success at call 973-684-5224 or stop by Room A230 for dates and times.

3. How do I find out about counseling workshops and/or support groups?

You can first check our rolling news/upcoming events section and/or call The Student for Success at 973-684-5224 or stop by Room A230 for dates and times. Past topics have included stress management, test anxiety, substance abuse awareness, and sexual identity, among others.

4. What do I do if I want to start a club?

Please contact The Student Activities Office (Room E102) or call 973-754-7191. All activities should be related to the goals and objectives of the organization and be approved by the club advisor and the Director of Student Activities.
