Waiver Policy

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP WAIVER
 
 
•         Members of the Alumni Association seeking a tuition waiver must be a paid member of the Alumni Association prior to registering for any course to be waived.
 
•         Alumni can register for courses on a space-available basis. This means that the earliest an alumni can register for a course, for which they are using a tuition waiver, is the last day of scheduled registration prior to the beginning of classes. 
 
•         Members of the Alumni Association may receive a tuition waiver for one (1) course per semester up to four (4) credits and are responsible for the applicable course fee.  They are not charged for any other fees related to the one waived course per semester.
 
•         Members of the Alumni Association seeking a tuition waiver are limited to one course per semester up to four (4) credits.  For example, if an alumni takes two (2) courses, i.e., a two (2) credit course and a six credit course, they receive free tuition for four (4) of the six credits only.  If an alumni takes a five (5) credit course, they will receive tuition remission for four (4) of the five (5) credits.
 
•         Any courses registered for prior to the  last day of regular registration are not eligible for the waiver.  The dropping and adding of courses will not be allowed for use of accessing the waiver.
 
•         Nursing and Radiography courses are not eligible for use with the waiver programs.


 
UNEMPLOYED STUDENT WAIVER
 
 
Student’s who are unemployed may be eligible for waived tuition and fees, if requirements below are met within two weeks of the first day of the semester. 
 
Student must present a completed Unemployment Waiver Form from the New Jersey Office of Unemployment to the Bursar’s Office.
 
Student must file for Financial Aid by completing a FAFSA and present proof to the Bursar’s office.
 
Registration for courses is on a space-available basis. This means that that the earliest a student can register for a course, for which they are using a tuition waiver, is the last day of scheduled registration prior to the beginning of classes. 
 
Any courses registered for prior to the  last day of regular registration are not eligible for the waiver.  The dropping and adding of courses will not be allowed for use of accessing the waiver.
 
Students are responsible for paying all course fees.  In addition, they are responsible for the student medical insurance fee if they are taking twelve (12) or more credits.  Tuition and all other “general” fees are waived.
 
Nursing and Radiography courses are not eligible for use with the waiver programs.
 
 
VOLUNTEER TUITION CREDIT PROGRAM
 
Students or family member who is actively serving on a Volunteer Fire or EMS service and meet all the other requirements listed below are eligible to receive a $300 per semester, $600 per year credit towards tuition only.
 
Registration for courses is on a space-available basis. This means that that the earliest a student can register for a course, for which they are using a tuition waiver, is the last day of scheduled registration prior to the beginning of classes. 
 
Any courses registered for prior to the  last day of regular registration are not eligible for the waiver.  The dropping and adding of courses will not be allowed for use of accessing the waiver.
 
Students must provide to the Bursar’s office with their registration each semester the following original paperwork:
 
o   Certificate of Authorization (VTC-5)
 
Students must maintain a grade of “C”, “2.0” or “pass” in the course to continue eligibility.
 
Nursing and Radiography courses are not eligible for use with the waiver programs.


 
SENIOR CITIZEN WAIVER - AUDIT

Must prove Passaic County residence.
Must have reached their 60th birthday prior to the first day of classes Must pay $5.00 fee per course.
Registration for courses is on a space-available basis. This means that that the earliest a student can register for a course, for which they are using a tuition waiver, is the last day of scheduled registration prior to the beginning of classes. 
 
Any courses registered for prior to the  last day of regular registration are not eligible for the waiver.  The dropping and adding of courses will not be allowed for use of accessing the waiver.
 
Students are responsible for paying all course fees.  In addition, they are responsible for the student medical insurance fee if they are taking twelve (12) or more credits.  Tuition and all other “general” fees are waived.

NATIONAL GUARD WAIVER


Must be a degree seeking New Jersey resident
Must be an active member of the New Jersey National Guard or is a child or a spouse of a National Guard member, who was killed in the line of active duty
Must provide a  valid commander’s certification from their unit.
Must complete FAFSA prior to registering. 
Must pay all fees.
May take up to a maximum of 16 credits per term.
May register at any time.
