What You Need to Know

  • To apply for financial aid at PCCC, you must be enrolled in a degree program, approved vocational program, and meet all other Basic Eligibility Requirements
  • You must apply for Financial Aid every year.
  • The fiscal year calendar covers the period from August - July. That means if you re-apply for financial aid for the Fall semester, your financial aid determination will cover you through the Spring and first summer session.  (PCCC offers two summer sessions.)
  • Financial Aid recipients must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, and not be in violation of and drug or other laws that would disqualify them from financial aid. (See Maintaining Your Financial Aid)

The  Financial Aid Process 
Keep Copies Of All Documents Used to Complete Your Aid Application.

  1. Applying for a PIN: To start the financial aid application process you first need to apply for a PIN.
    (for a dependent student, the parent should apply for the PIN) If you are unable to apply for a PIN#, you can print the signature page at the end of the application process and mail it to the processing center.   [Keep a copy for your records]
  2. All PCCC students who seek financial aid must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA.
    You must file a new FAFSA each year to continue your financial aid.
  3. You must list Passaic County Community College on the FAFSA to ensure that PCCC receives your application information.  You must also enter PCCC’s Federal School Code 009994  on the form.
  4. Passaic County Community College [PCCC]  must be the first College Choice on your FAFSA in order to be considered for State Aid  {NJTAG/EOF}.  State deadline for Continuing students is June 1 of the following academic year, and October 1 for New Students.
  5. If you are selected for  VERIFICATION , you can no longer provide a paper copy of your or your parents Federal Tax Return.  You must provide an IRS Tax Return Transcript.
  6. The Office of Financial Aid will notify all applicants upon receipt of their aid application and financial aid award  through their student portal, usually in the late spring. 
  7. After receiving your award, student’s interested in additional funds can apply for a loan by submitting the Direct Loan Request Form.   [The documents are online or can be picked up at the Office of Financial Aid.]
