About the Program
Mr. Farbman will discuss how communication skills (writing, presenting, problem-solving, research, and planning) can help you in your careers, as well as how these skills can help you advance important causes as a student and as a professional.
Jacob C. Farbman, M.A., APR, serves as the director of communications for the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, where he oversees the Council's statewide internal and external communication programs for New Jersey's 19 community colleges.
Mr. Farbman manages the Council's statewide public affairs campaigns, blending elements of public relations, marketing, advertising, and grassroots communication to inform the public, the legislature, policy makers, and state leaders of the importance of community college programs.
He has also taught as an adjunct professor of communication studies at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in Ewing since January 2001, teaching Introduction to Communication Theory and Strategies of Public Relations.
Currently, Mr. Farbman is pursuing a doctorate degree in education at Rowan University.
Accomplishments and Awards
Launched and sustained the New Jersey Student Tuition Assistance Rewards Scholarship (NJ STARS)
Led the community college efforts for the Building Our Future Bond Campaign in 2012.
Received the 2002 and 2006 Silver and Bronze Medallions of Achievement from District I of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR)
Co-authored a chapter for Fifty State Systems of Community Colleges: Mission, Governance, Funding & Accountability, Fourth Edition.
