The Studio Arts Department announces the new Associate in Fine Arts Degree Program, enabling students who wish to pursue a career in fine arts to gain the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their goals.

“I am thrilled that the AFA program will allow our students the opportunity to prepare to transfer the top BFA art programs in our area as well as nationally,” says Professor Mary Dajnak, coordinator of Studio Arts.

“ The required art courses and art electives will surely add to the intensity of their creative explorations and will add a boost to their portfolios.”

Studio Arts @ PCCC also offers an Associate in Arts in Liberal Arts degree with a concentration in Studio Arts for students who plan to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree at a four-year college.

This program provides students with a solid foundation in the visual arts through courses that develop a broad range of knowledge, skills, and competencies essential for advanced study. including drawing, design, color theory, art history, and  portfolio presentation,

Students learn from professors who are working artists as well as experienced educators.

Students also benefit from a variety of enrichment activities including field trips to major museums, student art contests, and exhibition opportunities.
