Associate in Applied Science Degree

Graduates should be able to:
- Type at least 60 words per minute (wpm) with no more than 5 errors
- Take dictation at a speed of at least 60 wpm and transcribe with 95 percent accuracy
- Perform tasks on at least four software packages (in a Windows environment), which include word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and database programs
- Enter office occupations with the necessary skills to serve in a supervisory capacity
- Identify primary forces that affect human behavior at work and in other life situations
- Keep financial records and record disbursements and receipts for small businesses
- Prepare business documents from unarranged copy into mailable form
- Develop the necessary skills to operate effectively in a diverse work situation that includes various ethnic groups
- Use technical editing skills to detect errors of inconsistency, parallelism, and sentence structure
- Use up-to-date technology to transmit, receive, and/or research information
