Health Information Technology

The Health Information Technology Program at Passaic County Community College allows students to gain the knowledge and skills required to collect, analyze and utilize informiton essential to the health care industry through a mixture of general education, professional course work and clinical experience at local health care facilities.


The Passaic County Community College Health Information Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Advanced Standing for CCS/CCS-P

Up to 10 credits towards the AAS degree in Health Information Technology will be awarded to individuals who have a current CCS or CCS-P credential. Credits may be awarded for:

  • HIT 104 - Healthcare Terminology
  • HIT 201 - ICD-9-CM
  • HIT 214 - Advanced Coding and Reimbursement
