Playwright, Composer, Vocalist

Born in Havana, Cuba, Rosa immigrated to the U.S. in 1962 where she began  her professional musical career as the founding member of an all-women Latin fusion band. She has collaborated with other songwriters and musicians, developing works for musical theater and film. "The Rose Slippers," her collaboration with percussionist/writer Sue Hadjopoulos, was produced in New York to favorable reviews and won third prize in the 2004 Jackie White National Memorial Children’s theater competition.

In 2002 Rosa received a “Meet the Composer” grant for the “Future Feminine” mixed-media project sponsored by the Tunnel Vision Writer’s Project in Montclair, NJ.  Her plays have received staged readings in New York and beyond. Her short play “Pigeons” was presented at the 2006 Samuel French festival in New York. Rosa is also a novelist and author of several published short stories. Her current projects include a non-fiction book based on her experiences as an attorney working with immigrants.  (click  here for a complete biography)
