General Information
Passaic County Community College offers one Academic Achievement Scholarship per year to a student enrolled in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program. This award recognizes scholastic excellence and also recognizes the English language as an indispensable tool for success in the United States today.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have accumulated a minimum of eighteen (18) credits.
- Must maintain a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be enrolled in the English as a Second Language Program.
- Financial need is not a factor.
Application Procedure
- Complete an application form, which is available in the Center for Student Success (A230), Financial Aid Office (A140), Registrar's Office (A160), or the Adjunct Office (E109).
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from a Passaic County Community College faculty member, counselor, or administrator. Your letter of recommendation must come from one of the above persons familiar with your academics.
- Describe in a brief paragraph how this scholarship will assist you in attaining your personal and educational goals.
Selection Process
The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select one recipient.
Duration of Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for attendance at Passaic County Community College for one academic year only (a fall and spring semester). Recipients must reapply to be considered for a second year.
Scholarship Value
Recipients will receive $500 per semester to be credited for tuition, fees, and books at Passaic County Community College. The student will receive a letter explaining the terms of the scholarship and must present a copy of this letter at registration each semester in order for funds to be credited.
