Todd B. Pearl


M.A., B.S.;  Rutgers University

Professor Pearl earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Criminal Justice as well as his Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.

He joined the Paterson Police Department (PPD) in 2007 then briefly served as a detective at the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office before returning to the PPD. Professor Pearl now serves as a detective assigned to the PPD’s Major Crime Investigation Division. He is also a New Jersey state certified police instructor and has taught at both the Paterson Police Academy and the Bergen County Police Academy.

Prior to joining the PPD, Professor Pearl served as a research assistant at the Rutgers University Police Institute and as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University. He was then hired as a civilian employee by the PPD to assist in the community outreach necessary in order to institute a CeaseFire Program in Paterson; Once the Program became operational, Professor Pearl served as its coordinator until he was hired as a police office.
