Professor Guzman is a graduate of Passaic County Community College, earning his degree in the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Criminal Justice Program. He earned his Bachelor Degree (BA) and his Master of Public Administration (MPA) Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Professor Guzman joined the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department in 1990, where he served as a corrections officer, and joined the Passaic Police Department in 1991 as a police officer. As a police lieutenant, he served as commanding officer of the department’s Internal Affairs Division and was later promoted to police captain, serving as a patrol commander. He was recently promoted to the position of Deputy Chief of Police in the Passaic Police Department, the highest ranking sworn position in that agency.
