Adjunct Faculty – American Sign Language
A Master's degree in the appropriate discipline and teaching experience are required, with community college teaching preferred. MASTER’S DEGREE, or higher or equivalent in AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, INTERPRETING, SIGN LANGUAGE STUDIES, DEAF EDUCATION, DEAF STUDIES/SIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING, LINGUISTICS, INTERPRETER PEDAGOGY, COMMUNICATIONS, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL EDUCATION. The following may be substituted for the Master’s degree: (A). a Bachelor’s degree in the discipline, or related field and minimum five years of recent work experience in the area (work experience should include teaching experience in ASL, Voice to Sign, and Sign to Voice); (B). a Bachelor’s degree in the discipline, or related field, with community college teaching experience, and one of the following is required: American Sign Language Teacher Association Certification; or Sign Communication Proficiency Interview; or Interpreter Certification: RID CI, CT; NAD, NAD-RID-NIC. Applicants must be fluent in American Sign Language and must be available to teach and travel to all PCCC campuses.
