THE THEATER AND POETRY PROJECT:
A LANGUAGE ARTS ENRICHMENT PARTNERSHIP

2012 PATERSON STUDENT POETRY CONTEST

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

We are eagerly awaiting your post office-mailed entries and we will notify you if you have won. At that point the winning poem must be re-submitted via e-mail as a Word attachment in order to be published in the anthology. New printing technology makes this necessary. No exceptions! Therefore each student should keep a copy of his/her poem because we cannot return any entries. (Please do not e-mail the initial entries. They must be sent as hard copies with the signed permissions on the same page as the poem)

TOPIC: Dinnertime at Our Home, or any other topic of your choice
STYLE: The poem may be written in any style, not to exceed two pages.
Give specific details, using words to paint a picture of what you do, see, and feel.

FORMAT:  Incorrect or incomplete entries will be REJECTED automatically.  We hate to do that, so please FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.  The volume of entries makes this necessary.

a) Typewritten on 8 ½” x 11” plain white paper
b) NO FANCY FONTS
c) In upper right hand corner, you must type: Writer’s name and home address
Grade, school, and teacher’s name

PERMISSION:  Below each poem you enter, copy the following statement and PARENT OR GUARDIAN must sign it. (Poems cannot be published without this signed statement on the page; do NOT attach this flyer):

I permit the reproduction of this poem in print, on the internet, or in any other media. I understand that students attending the Award Ceremony may be televised and/or photographed, and that these recordings and photographs may be broadcast or reproduced without additional permission from me, the undersigned.
