Mark Hillringhouse is a poet, essayist and photographer whose work has been widely exhibited in area galleries.  The City of Paterson has long been a rich source of inspiration for   his photographs.  He writes that his images “explore the haunting beauty of an industrial past, the city’s mills and factories, against the backdrop of the city’s vibrant street life as juxtaposed against the timeless forces of the Passaic River, the Great Falls, and Garret Mountain.”  Hillringhouse has generously donated eight of his “Paterson” photographs to the PCCC Contemporary Art Collection, including Great Falls, Paterson.
Mark Hillringhouse is a faculty member of the English Department at Passaic County Community College. His photo-essay on the Passaic River was published last year in the American Poetry Review and his photography and writing have also been published in The New York Times, New Jersey Monthly, and many other books and magazines.  He was the founding editor of the American Book Review and a contributing editor for The New York Arts Journal.  His book of photographs and poetry, Between Frames, was recently published by Serving House Books.  To see more of his work, visit .
