In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council at Passaic County Community College is pleased to present NATIVE VISIONS, an exhibition of paintings by 10 contemporary artists: Priscilla Anacakuyani Bell Lamberty; Ferdinand Uaian Bruno; Michael Casiano; Alicia Maury; Román Guaraguorix Perez; Franchesca Rivera; Inti Guarionex Rodríguez; Theresa Makutonaru Santana; Miguel Koromo Sague; Gina Robles Villalba.  The various styles and techniques of the artists reflect the indigenous cultures of their Caribbean heritage.  The exhibit is a partnership with El Club Deportivo Puertorriqueño and was curated by Jaimí Rodríguez.  The show is on view in the Broadway & LRC Galleries at Passaic County Community College from October 10 through December 10, 2015, Broadway at Memorial Drive in downtown Paterson, New Jersey.   A reception for the artists will be held in the Broadway Gallery, Thursday, November 5, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.   Admission to the exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.

The artists participating in Native Visions have roots in Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.  Though they have diverse visions, styles and techniques, all are inspired by their indigenous and Taino heritage.  Michael Casiano’s paintings tell stories that are influenced by Native American and Taino cultures; Ferdinand Uaian Bruno, Priscilla Anacakuyani Bell Lamberty, Román Guaraguorix Perez, Theresa Makutonaru Santana, Miguel Koromo Sague and Gina Robles Villalba use traditional  indigenous images and symbols in their artwork, while Franchesca Rivera and Inti Guarionex Rodríguez experiment with a variety of mediums and techniques.

The Broadway Gallery is located at Passaic County Community College, Broadway at Memorial Drive in downtown Paterson, New Jersey.   Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
