"COLOR AND SHADOW IN THE MONASTERY
OF SANTA CATALINA IN AREQUIPA, PERU"

LAURIE MOODY
Photographs

Laurie Moody studied black and white photography at the New School in New York City. She recently began experimenting with digital color photography. This exhibition reflects her interest in shadow and light with the addition of color. The winter sunlight on the painted walls and doorways of Santa Catalina Monastery in Arequipa, Peru, provided her with a unique opportunity to explore this interest. The intense colors, dark shadows and clear blue sky created abstract designs that the viewer can explore on several levels.

Laurie Moody is chair of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Department at Passaic County Community College and has a doctorate from New York University. She has traveled extensively and has published her photography in conjunction with her travel writing.

A reception for the artist will be held in the gallery on Thursday, December 8, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Admission to the reception is free. The exhibition is on view through January 21, 2006.
