COMPUTER ART
BY LAURA WILSON HOWSON

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council at Passaic County Community College is pleased to present “REFLECTIONS OF P - TOWN,” an exhibition of computer art works by New Jersey artist LAURA WILSON HOWSON. The exhibit is on view in the Broadway & LRC Galleries from March 2 through April 29, 2004

The Broadway & LRC Galleries are located at Passaic County Community College, Broadway at Memorial Drive in the downtown historic district of Paterson, New Jersey. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A reception for the artist will be held in the gallery on March 9, 3:00 - 5:00. Admission to the exhibit and reception is free.

Laura Wilson Howson’s current interest is computer art and the digital graphics medium as a vehicle of artistic expression. This exhibit includes computer paintings depicting scenes in the world in which we live, as well as abstract digital photographic details of nature, featuring the Great Falls in Paterson. The photographs, many of ice formations (“ice sculptures”), reflect her intention to capture scenes of the beauty in nature which are temporary and unusual.

Laura Wilson Howson received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas in Austin where her thesis focused on “Dreams in Children’s Art.” Howson teaches at P.A.N.T.H.E.R. / NASA High School Academy in Paterson and is an adjunct professor at Passaic County Community College. She served in the U.S. Peace Corps as a Crafts Instructor for the Red Cross in Montserrat, an island in the Eastern Caribbean.
