In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council at Passaic County Community College is pleased to present MAR Y TIERRA, an exhibition of photographs by New Jersey artist, ALINA BLIACH, who was born in Havana, Cuba. The exhibit is on view in the Broadway & LRC Galleries from March 9 through May 26, 2007.

The Broadway & LRC Galleries are located at Passaic County Community College, Broadway at Memorial Drive, in the downtown historic district of Paterson, New Jersey. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 – 5:00. A reception for the artist will be held in the gallery on March 15, 4:30 – 6:30. Admission to the exhibit and reception is free.

Although trained as a pharmacist, photography is Alina Bliach’s passion. About her work, she states, “I feel that I have a duty and a responsibility to reveal to others that which most individuals neglect to see. It is through my landscapes that I hope to convey a certain hopefulness about the future. Let these photographs serve as an inspiration in reminding us to conserve our natural world for out children and children’s children.” The forty-eight works in the exhibition, Mar Y Tierra, reflect the artist’s goal to capture a sense of wonder, beauty, and truth in nature. Canyonlands Panorama, Bryce View, Valley of Fire, Pacific View, and Wall with Petroglyphs are just a sampling of the photographs in the show that express Alina Bliach’s vision.

Alina Bliach studied photography at Mercer County Community College and holds a BS in Pharmacy from Long Island University. She has exhibited her work at the Arts Council of Princeton, Grounds for Sculpture, Perkins Center for the Arts, and Gallery 125, among others. Bliach has won several awards for her photographs.
