Celebrating Women’s History Month, the Passaic County Cultural & Heritage Council at Passaic County Community College is pleased to present Heroines: Living Women Making a Difference in Our World, an exhibition of mixed-media paintings by Judith Lepore-Schreiber.  The “Heroine” series features large vertical panels of icon-like portraits of remarkable women from around the world.   The artworks are on view in the Broadway Gallery at Passaic County Community College from March 3 through April 16, 2016, Broadway at Memorial Drive in downtown Paterson, New Jersey.

A reception for the artist will be held in the Broadway Gallery on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Admission to the exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.  Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Judith Lepore-Schreiber has said that her creativity is focused on the issues of today. “If someone can look at one of my pieces and think about how the world can become a better place, then I feel like I’ve made that connection.”  True to her vision, Lepore-Schreiber’s “Heroines” provide a way for viewers to connect to women who are making a difference around the world.

Lepore- Schreiber’s 15 large mixed media panels on display at PCCC are done in acrylic paint on wood with tile and collage.  Among the women represented are Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel Peace Prize winner from Pakistan; Fatu Kekula, an Ebola Nurse from Liberia; Cécile Kyenge, Italy’s first black cabinet minister, and Jane Goodal, a primatologist from England.

A former Ringwood, New Jersey resident, the artist now lives on costal Long Island.  She has a bachelor’s degree in sculpture and a master’s in painting.  To learn more about the artist and her work, visit www.art-judithleporeschreiber.com .
