Contemporary Art Collection

The permanent collection of contemporary fine art at Passaic County Community College continues to expand.  More than 70 works of art have been added to the collection in the past five years, and we are pleased to present a revised catalog that includes the recent acquisitions.

Paintings, photographs, sculptures, and works on paper by regional, national, and internationally known artists are represented in the collection.  These include works by Jacob Landau, Ben Shahn, George Tice, Ben Wilson and Evelyn Wilson.

Some of the artwork was donated by artists who have previously exhibited in our galleries; other pieces were given by individuals or commissioned by community groups.  We are especially grateful to Albert Tacconelli who has donated over 60 works of art on paper from his personal collection, including 19th Century woodblock prints by Japanese master artists, Hiroshige and Hokusai, as well as many of his own works and original prints by other contemporary artists.

In this exhibit two original prints, Three Marigolds by Brigitte Coudrain and Moon Bird by Antonio Frasconi, were donated by Albert Tacconelli in 2011 and were not listed in the updated catalog.  Also on view, Great Falls, Paterson by Mark Hillringhouse was chosen by the National Parks Service for its latest brochure and for the new national parks calendar, which will be available in National Parks Visitors Centers nation-wide.
