“This is a well deserved honor,” said Dr. Steven Rose, president of PCCC, who attended the awards ceremony. “She entered a college in 1983 with less than 2000 students and a well deserved questionable reputation. Today PCCC is thriving with over 10,000 students and a stellar reputation. Evelyn DeFeis has played a significant role in that success.”  Also present to represent the Board of Trustees were Chairman Kenneth Sumter,Vice Chairwoman Barbara Tanis, and Trustee Hector Ayala.

“Passaic County Community College inspires people to accept challenges they may have once feared and to exceed their own expectations,” said Ms. DeFeis, who has been on staff at PCCC for 25 years. She continued, “It is a very unique, family-oriented organization, and I am proud to be a part of it.”

An alumna of PCCC where she earned an associate’s degree in business administration, Ms. DeFeis also holds a BA in social sciences and history from Thomas Edison State College. She began her employment at the College in the department of Institutional Research and later worked in the office of the dean of faculty. Ms. DeFeis has worked in the President’s office since 1987, and was promoted to Assistant to the President in 2007.
