Burcu Hoffman, a Business Administration major with a concentration in Hospitality Management, completed her summer internship at the Hilton Hotel in Hasbrouck Heights and was immediately offered a full-time position with the hotel.

“We are really proud of her,” said Professor James Allen, coordinator of the Business Administration internship program.  “Ms. Hoffman is an ambitious young lady with a great personality and knowledge of her career,” he added. “She was great as a student and I'm sure she will be great as an associate for the Hilton Worldwide International Hotel. Their team was really excited about her.”

Burcu, who is on target to receive her associate’s degree at the end of this year, strongly recommends PCCC’s internship experience. “It gets your foot in the door,” she said.  Burcu is the seventh PCCC student to complete an internship with the Hilton and one of several who landed jobs through the PCCC Business Administration internship program.

A requirement for the Hospitality Management degree, the internship is a 135-hour (approximately 6 weeks) introduction to hotel operations, offering interns the opportunity to work in various departments of the hotel in order to acquire an overview of how a hotel is managed.

Currently, PCCC’s  Hospitality Management internship program partners with both the Hilton in Hasbrouck Heights and the Marriott at Newark Liberty Airport, both prestigious establishments in the industry.

“We are the only ones working with these hotels,” said Dr. Tom Cox, chair of the Business Administration department.  “The hands on experience and networking opportunities offered by internships are invaluable and essential for job seekers in today’s market.”
