Degree Programs

Associate in Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts

The food industry is a fast-growing source of plentiful job opportunities at all levels. This degree program is designed for students seeking entry-level restaurant and food service positions in fine dining establishments. You can prepare for a position as a station chef, sous-chef, or restaurant manager. Learn about food preparation, nutrition, menu planning, equipment operation and basic maintenance and table service. Find out about purchasing, keeping inventory, and maintaining sanitary conditions. Culinary classes are conducted in the two newly constructed professional kitchens at PCCC’s Wanaque Academic Center. (more info)

Associate in Applied Science Degree in Digital Media Production and Distribution
Want to work as independent video producer/director?   Seeking an entry-level position as a production assistant, assistant director, or in lighting, audio production and editing, and video editing. In this program, you can become proficient in the digital video production process, from  pre-production, production, and post-production to distribution and monetization of digital video content.  Learn scripting, storyboarding, camera, lighting, directing, editing and other skills.  Find out how to distribute content to traditional and new media platforms. Produce a final video project and learn to manage media production teams. (more info)

Associate in Applied Science Degree in Music Technology

Do you make beats?  Music Technology is an exciting, but highly competitive field where a college degree can help open doors, especially in the New York metro area market. This program will help you to develop your skills in music theory, composition, and piano keyboarding. Learn about post-production, editing, and more.  Gain an understanding of copyright law and more about the business side of the music industry.  (more info)

Associate in Science Degree in Public Health

Are you interested in how healthcare impacts society? This course trains students to recognize the function of public health in society and to identify the essentials of public health by engaging with public health professionals. Learn about data collection and study the socio-economic cultural values that contribute to health disparities. Explore strategies for improving population health. (more info)

Career Certificate Programs

Applied Writing and Copy Editing
Do you enjoy working with words? This program can prepare students for positions as tutors, proofreaders, clerk typists, and numerous other jobs in writing or editing-based services.
Learn to conduct research, analyze textual content, and synthesize information. Gain the skills to compose documents in various formats and to edit texts at various stages of the production process. (more info


Have a sweet tooth?  The booming food service and hospitality industries offer sweet job opportunities for well-trained workers.  This program can help you learn the basic skills needed to work in the baking and pastry segment of those industries. Be well prepared to work in bakeries, bread houses, or restaurants. Learn in PCCC’s new professional kitchens, and gain hands-on experience in an externship opportunity where you will work in a nearby restaurant or café. (more info)

Culinary Arts
Seeking a career in a restaurant, hotel, or catering service? This course teaches the basic cooking and baking skills you’ll need to land an in-demand job in the food industry.  You’ll also learn about food costs, ordering supplies, and appropriate behavior and procedures in a professional kitchen. Classes are held in PCCC’s new professional kitchens!  You’ll also get real-world experience in an externship at an area restaurant or café. (more info)

Video Production
This program prepares students for entry-level positions as a production intern, assistant to a producer or director, or as an independent producer. Gain a basic knowledge of the video production process from pre-production through production and post-production. Learn basic scripting, camera, lighting, directing, and editing techniques. Learn about using graphics as well as audio production and enhancement. Find out how to distribute content to traditional and new media platforms, including websites.  Develop an understanding of media communication theory and practices. (more info)

Certificate of Achievement Programs

Basic Video Production
Gain the knowledge to produce your own content for use in online and social media environments. In this program, you will learn about planning, scripting, lighting, and digital editing in video productions. Use a videocamcorder to develop skills for electronic news gathering and gain an understanding of field and studio production of video content.  Students also study the history, impact, and ethics of mass media communications. Community Health Care Navigator
As healthcare systems grow increasingly complex, many patients and families need help accessing care, coordinating services, and managing paperwork. Health Care Navigators are the trained professionals who fill this need.  In this program, you’ll gain the skills to work effectively with individuals and agencies as well as with care providers.  Learn to be a guide for the community members you assist helping them to become aware of and utilize available resources.
