Distinguished Lecturer Series

The Distinguished Lecturer Series (DLS) was established at Passaic County Community College in 1994 with the goal to present high-profile speakers from academia, industry, government, and the arts. The series presents speakers who represent a broad range of viewpoints, as well as lectures and panel discussions on a wide range of topics, ranging from an explanation of the legal profession to an exploration of terrorism and policing.

The series features speakers from both the local and wider community.  Some area experts who have appeared include: Donna Fontana, forensic anthropologist for the New Jersey State Police; Linda Freytes, Passaic County Superintendent of Elections and Commissioner of Registration; and Dr. James Pruden  of St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Other notables include: Dith Pran, a Pulitzer prizewinning photojournalist for The New York Times;  Dr. Yaffa Eliach, a Holocaust survivor and distinguished Judaic scholar; and  Patricia Campbell Glenn, federal mediator for the U.S. Department of Justice, David Maiullo, demonstrator of physics at Rutgers New Brunswick, Dr Jeffrey Nevid, professor of abnormal psychology, and Dr Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, chair of the Sociology Department at Duke University.
